Rougham Estate Trust was delighted to be invited to the annual Summer Music Concert at Rougham Primary School on the 17 July at 6pm. Trustees Ady White and George Agnew attended and were warmly welcomed by the head teacher and music teacher Hannah Morgan.
The small stage came alive with enthusiastic young performers and a wide selection of instruments funded by the Rougham Estate Trust. The children played a variety of short pieces, accompanied by Hannah on piano, guitar, and even a few backing tracks from her laptop. Her calm and relaxed manner seemed to be picked up by the children who seemed to be less nervous than usual.
An interesting feature was the cello duo’s performance of Airport and Can-Can — an encouraging moment, as the cello was making a first return to the school since the departure of former music teacher Sharon Francis.
The large group of twelve guitarists reflected the instrument’s popularity, while the school choir stole the show as always — singing, dancing, and filling the room with energy and joy.
The concert, which lasted just under an hour, was warmly received by parents and governors, several of whom expressed their thanks to the Trust for its ongoing support.
