Let’s treasure what we have and inspire the future

Objects

In addition to preserving the Estate for the future, the Rougham Estate Trust has been created to promote three object, find these below.

Objects of the trust

The Rougham Estate Trust is dedicated to both preserving the Estate’s future and making it a more vibrant place for everyone. Our mission centers around three core goals: caring for the environment, sharing the Estate’s history, and supporting music education.

We understand the importance of the Estate’s natural surroundings. That’s why we’re actively managing the woodlands (650 acres), undertaking conservation projects like ride widening, and conducting a thorough survey to understand and protect the area’s biodiversity. We want to ensure that the Estate remains a beautiful and thriving natural space for years to come.

Rougham has a fascinating history, and we’re committed to sharing it. We’re collecting local stories and memories, and we’re also looking at ways to explore and preserve important archaeological sites like the Tumulus and the villa. Our aim is to make Rougham’s history accessible and engaging for everyone.

We believe music has the power to inspire and enrich lives. That’s why we’re supporting music education at Rougham VCP School by providing instruments and funding for music teachers. We want to encourage a love of classical music and help young people develop their musical talents.

The Rougham Estate Trust is committed to ensuring that the Estate remains a vital and vibrant part of the community, now and in the future.

The Rougham Estate Trust has recently been engaged in felling Norway Spruce trees across its land. This is the result of the arrival of the Spruce Bark Beetle in our woodlands and other woods in East Anglia and South East England. This beetle has arrived in this country from Asia via mainland Europe and threatens Spruce plantations across the country. The Forestry Commission is taking this outbreak very seriously as it threatens their vast plantations in Northern England as well as in Wales and Scotland.
